PVC-LINED CONCRETE SEWER PIPE AND MANHOLE REHABILITATION - NORTH

Project Owner: City of Phoenix
Project Type: Construction Manager at Risk
Construction Dates: 08/19 to 07/24

This project involved the rehabilitation of sewer lines and manholes at various locations in the City of Phoenix, generally north of Dunlap Avenue. In GMP 1, we rehabilitated 12,000 LF of PVC-lined concrete sewer pipe (30” to 48”) using cured-in-place-pipe and six manholes (60”), and the installation of 10 new manholes (48” and 60”). In GMP 2, the project included rehabilitation of 2,444 LF of CIPP ( 36”), one insert rehabilitation (48”), and eight coated manhole rehabilitations (48”).

All together, we rehabilitated more than 17,000 LF of pipe, and 36 manholes were either rehabilitated or constructed. There were 20 sewer bypass operations, including a double containment system crossing the Central Arizona Project canal at the Cave Creek Bridge. These bypass systems managed flows up to 49.5 MGD. Some rehabilitation segments were located in high-traffic arterial streets and busy intersections. Our detailed traffic control and pre-construction planning allowed for optimal safety and access. We communicated with the nearby cemetery, local businesses, schools, and other stakeholders to maintain access and egress at all times while minimizing disruption.
